Alex Taylor a grandi en Cornouailles dans les années 60. Après des études à Oxford, il part à Paris pour y vivre plus librement son homosexualité. Il devient professeur, puis journaliste et il est l’un des premiers à parler d’Europe et du sentiment européen. Il voyage, découvre Berlin, s’y installe tout en revenant toujours en France. Bouleversé et en colère après le Brexit, il choisit de devenir Français et obtient l’année dernière la nationalité française. À l’heure du repli sur soi, de l’explosion des populismes en Europe et des questions toujours plus cruciales sur l’identité, Alex Taylor répond par l’exemple, l’humour et la nuance : il montre la façon dont il est devenu un citoyen européen, tour à tour plus anglais que français ou l’inverse.
